I am blogging from iPad because my computer was hacked last week. The bad, scary kind. The kind that asks for money, in order to release the files on your computer. I started crying, I couldn't stop. All my pictures were being held captive. I hadn't backed them up, stupid. I was afraid that I lost everything, still not sure if I have them
I had two photoshoots (that had not been printed), all of my grandson's pictures, school pictures, the only pictures I have of my first born grandson (that I don't get to see), special pictures of Hawaii ( that can't be replaced). Please, back up your pictures. I have an external hard drive, but I was too lazy to walk upstairs to get it, the day before the hack.
I made my son take the computer in to the shop. I thought that they would have to carry me away when they told me that they couldn't retrieve it. I won't know for a couple of days if they were able to save everything
I had a similar experience. My hard drive crashed last week. I did lose a lot but learned a valuable lesson. Back it up! Check out dropbox.com. It's a site that stores all of your documents and pictures, etc. Then you won't have to worry about going to get your external hard drive. My brother in law (who is a Mac Specialist) recommends the site to all of his customers as a back up. Thanks for sharing your lesson. It's a good reminder for us all!

I am soooooo beyond sorry to hear that Terri :( I wish I could help in some small way! What a scary thing to have happen. I am crossing my fingers that the computer shop is able to save as many of your things as possible. Hope all turns out well, I'm on my way to back up right now!

I'm so sorry! That is so scary. I can't imagine how devastating that would be. Hopefully you will get all your pictures back. When I was writing my thesis, my computer crashed. I was almost done with it too! Thankfully I had just sent it to my advisor, so I was able to access it. Ugh, that is so stressful.

I'm SO SORRY! I had my computer die completely about 4 years ago. I bawled, I had nothing backed up and I had all of my pictures of my dad (who had just passed away at the time) on there. It was awful! Our computer tech at school took pity on me and was able to get back most of my files back , only for it to do the very same thing three weeks later and me STILL not learning my lesson to back it all up. Now I have a desktop computer where the external hd is ALWAYS plugged in and automatically backs everything up. Here's hoping they're able to get it all back for you!
ReplyDeleteOMG I am so sorry to hear that!! I hope they can save everything! Just found your blog through Granny's giveaway, I'm your newest follower!
