Miss Lily

She is here - grandchild #8.  Miss Lily.  She is a good mix of mommy and daddy with a little pouty mouth like her big sister.  I am so in love with her.

Five for Friday

I am linking up with Doodle Bugs - finally. It seems like my Fridays come and go way tooooo fast.

Red cups, love them.  I believe that I did a little squeal when I saw them at Starbucks.  It is my favorite time of the year.  I was lucky enough that a parent brought me an extra one that day.

Last week, I started my long weekend with a buy back furlough day - common core training at our school site.  I love spending time with my team.  We might have had a few snacks and red cups on the table.

I have been working on some little Santa hats for one of my Christmas trees.  It just makes me happy.  I bought some really cute fuzzy pom poms for the top of the hats, but I can't find any of my glue guns - I have 4 of them.  I need to check school.

I took my granddaughter to Disneyland and we had this photo taken.  It is called a Magic Shot.  She was so willing to pose for the picture, then the photographer added the balloons.  We, also, had one taken where Tinker Bell sits in your hand.  You can read more about it here on my Disney blog.

The twins were dedicated at church on Sunday.  For some reason, I couldn't pull it together.  I was very emotional and couldn't stop crying.  I am so blessed to have such beautiful grandkids - inside and out.  I am so lucky to have a set of twin granddaughters.

Yesterday, my #8 grandchild was due - but Miss Lily isn't ready to come out yet.  I can't wait to meet her.  Her mom is so ready for her to be born.

I hope you have a wonderful, relaxed weekend.  I have started decorating the house for Christmas - I love Christmas.  I am not a huge fan of Thanksgiving, so I kinda of skip decorating for that holiday.  But, I do love being around my family.  I am planning on getting some crafting done and maybe a trip to Disneyland.

911

One of my students' dad is a fireman, so I asked him to come to school to talk to the kids last month.  He did a great job.  He was there for over an hour.  He talked to them about fire safety, emergencies, when to call 911 and when not to call 911.

He put on all his gear, explaining to the kids - what each piece of equipment was for.  The kids were totally engaged in his speaking.

He showed them the air tank and explained how it works.  Every single valve.

He showed them how to get out of the building if there was a fire - explaining to them why they do it this way.  He even pretend rescued a child.

Then, we played dress up with a few of the kids.  They loved this part.

He told the kids that they needed to have good grades, to learn their sight words, learn to read to so they could grow up to be whatever they wanted to be in life.  He was amazing.

Remember the part where I told you that he talked about the reasons to call 911.  He talked about all the reasons to call 911 and it was for serious reasons.  He told them exactly what the operator would say.  Well, one of my partner's students decided to call and she dropped the phone when she heard the operator.  The mom had no idea that she had called - except when the policeman started walking around her house trying to get in.  The parents came to school and my partner told them exactly what was said - they laughed.  The best part was the fire fighter walked with us on the field trip and had a little talk with the girl.  Priceless.

Bad Blogger

I have been such a bad blogger - but I have an excuse.  Life has been crazy at school and at home.  Here is a little recap.

School

Setting up a new classroom (after changing to a new classroom, after break), assessments, report cards, parent/teacher conferences, a firefighter visit

A fall party with 6 different rotation stations.

A field trip to the pumpkin patch

Home

A deep cleaning of my house to find certain rooms because my Mother in Law was coming to visit, baby shower for my Daughter in Law, a wedding for my son, Halloween

A birthday slumber party at my house for my oldest granddaughter.

A first birthday party for my grandson that I cooked all the food.

Lots of visits from these two adorable girls.

Eight trips to Disneyland to hang out with my kids and grandkids.  Most of the trips were just for a couple of hours.  It was a wonderful break.

But, the best thing about October - my hubby is now home permanently - I am a happy girl.
